PPOA was proud to present college scholarships to a roomful of bright, young minds last month. The students — daughters, sons and dependents of PPOA members — were joined by family members for a special ceremony prior to the June board meeting. We are grateful to Undersheriff Tim Murakami for helping us honor our recipients. We were also joined by very special guests who made the ceremony extra meaningful. Sergeant Ottawa Cureton was on hand to speak about the legacy of her late son, C.A. Anthony Thompson and the first ever scholarship in his memory. Mr. and Mrs. Burkhardt, the parents of the late Security Officer Lars Burkhardt, also joined us to help present a scholarship in memory of their son.
