Custody Commitment Reduced to 2 Years for Supervisors

August 3, 2021

PPOA and the Sheriff’s Department recently reached an agreement to reduce the Custody three (3) year commitment. Newly-promoted sworn supervisors assigned to Custody Divisions will now only have to fulfill a two (2) year commitment.

Please also note that in anticipation of a Sergeant breakup in the near future, the filing period for transfer preference updates has been extended. For those who have completed two years in a custody assignment, it is highly recommended you update your transfer preferences. Transfers will be based solely on seniority in your current rank.

Further details are contained in a JDIC message expected to be distributed by the Department on 7/29/21.

“This agreement between PPOA and the Sheriff’s Department is the culmination of months of discussions,” said President Tab Rhodes. “PPOA would like to acknowledge and thank Sheriff Villanueva for his collaborative leadership during this process which will help impacted members further their careers on a more accelerated timeline.”
