Attention Active PPOA Members:
We are very pleased to report that active PPOA members will be eligible to enroll in a new 401(k) Savings Plan for Los Angeles County employees, starting January 2, 2026. This important new benefit is the result of fringe benefits contract negotiations between the Coalition of County Unions (CCU)* and LA County executives.
If you are already participating in the 457(b) Horizons Plan, this additional plan is a good way to further supplement your retirement savings strategy and take advantage of even more tax-deferred savings.
Enrolling in the 401(k) Savings Plan is simple:
- Beginning January 2nd, visit www.countyla.com.
- Click on “Register” on the home page and follow the prompts.
If you need help with enrollment, click here to view a list of upcoming 401(k) Savings Enrollment virtual webinars or speak to an Empower representative for assistance at (800) 947-0845.

*The CCU represents 15 labor organizations, including PPOA, with more than 30,000 union members employed by the County and is their unified voice on health insurance, vacation pay, retirement and more.

Steve Johnson, President
Los Angeles County Professional Peace Officers Association
