DEPUTY JACK WILLIAMS
End of Watch: May 29, 1979
You are invited to join Undersheriff Timothy Murakami, Captain Rick Rector, the Williams family, PPOA and Industry Station personnel for the memorial dedication ceremony on May 29.
Deputy Williams and other members of the Narcotics Bureau served a search warrant for illegal narcotics at a residence on May 29, 1979. As Deputy Williams entered the location, the suspect fired a shotgun, fatally wounding the 9-year LASO veteran. The suspect was sentenced to death, but due to the recent halt with the law pertaining to the death sentence, he is now appealing his case. Deputy Williams is survived by his wife and two children. Deputy Williams’ partner Bobby Esquivel and the L.A. County Professional Peace Officers Association (PPOA) were successful in petitioning the state legislature to dedicate a section of Interstate Highway 605 to be recognized as the L.A. County Sheriff’s Deputy Jack Williams Memorial Highway.
We encourage all sworn and professional staff who worked at Industry Station and the Narcotics Bureau to attend the ceremony. For more information, please contact Deputy George Meza at (626) 764-3052 or gmeza@lasd.org.
