PPOA Board Election Ballot Count

PPOA members have two races to decide in 2020:
Unit 612 – LASD Sergeants/Lieutenants
Eligible PPOA members in this unit will be asked to elect two directors from the five candidates running for office. In alphabetical order, they are:
- Sergeant Juan Calderon
- Lieutenant Jeffrey Ivask
- Sergeant Tony Romo*
- Sergeant Michael Thibodeaux
- Lieutenant Ryan Vienna*
Unit 621 – LASD Custody Assistants
Eligible PPOA members in this unit will be asked to elect one director from the two candidates running for office. In alphabetical order, they are:
- Custody Assistant Rosario “Tony” Coleman*
- Custody Assistant Jeffrey Ramirez
* incumbent
Law Enforcement Technician Jim Blankenship, Commander Carlos Marquez and Retired Sergeant Jim Schallert are running unopposed for their respective seats and will be automatically re-elected.
Per PPOA bylaws, ballots and candidate statements will be mailed to eligible members on October 21st. Completed ballots will be due back by November 18th and a ballot count will be conducted at PPOA on November 20th.

Update: Due to the rise in COVID-19 infections in Los Angeles County, PPOA will be limiting the conference room capacity for the board ballot count on Friday, November 20, 2020. Representatives from the ballot counting firm will be joined by three PPOA members who are volunteering to verify the ballot count. All board candidates are invited to observe the ballot count in person but no guests or additional members will be permitted in the room. Please note that a Zoom video conference will be available to PPOA members who wish to view the ballot count. Any member who wishes to participate in the Zoom call must send their name, employee number and personal email address to info@ppoa.com.
