PPOA proudly issued our annual college scholarship awards to a group of very dedicated and deserving students this morning. Since the inception of this program, PPOA has been honored to contribute more than $150,000 toward the educational goals of our members and their sons/daughters. The 2023 recipients included the dependents of PPOA members enrolled at colleges across the nation and pursuing degrees in architecture, criminal justice, biology and more. We were particularly honored to award the Lars Burkhardt Memorial Scholarship to an active PPOA member who is working toward his degree while fulfilling his commitment as a Sheriff’s Security Officer. We wish the best to each student and are grateful to their family members who joined us at today’s ceremony. Special thanks to LASD Chief Jorge Valdez for his participation and support.
