When PPOA was established 74 years ago, the founding members immediately made it a priority to fight for improvements to a fledgling retirement system that, in those days, left much to be desired. Each generation of union leaders who followed in those footsteps has continued that vigilance to enhance the quality of life for PPOA members, both active and retired. While the list of battles waged by PPOA (whether collectively with fellow unions or on our own) is too lengthy for this page, here are a few notable examples:
- Ventura II
- Pension protection
- Workers’ compensation
- HR-218 federal legislation
- DMV confidentiality
- Peace Officers Bill of Rights
- Gun bill amendments
- 4850 lawsuit
- Sewards v. IRS lawsuit
- Medical presumptions (heart, back, cancer, etc.)
