As this issue of Star & Shield was going to print, we received the heartbreaking news about the passing of a true PPOA patriarch: Jim Vogts. The former PPOA president and LASD sergeant died on April 25 as a result of health complications. Jim was an irreplaceable PPOA leader who helped guide this Association in a number of capacities for the last 40+ years. We will feature more about Jim’s legacy and his impact on peace officers statewide in the next issue of Star & Shield.
