The Star & Shield Foundation: An Extension of Our Care

As a part of PPOA’s Tradition of Success, we proudly take care of our members in numerous, unique ways. One way we extend care to our members is through our Star & Shield Foundation. Established in 2001, it has proudly raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to support charitable organizations and important causes, primarily focusing on the families of fallen officers. Contract Negotiations 2025

Every one of PPOA’s labor Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) contracts with the County of Los Angeles expires this year. By now, the PPOA Bargaining Unit (B/U) 612 (Sergeants and Lieutenants) MOU has expired, effective January 31. To be certain, the existing PPOA MOU for B/U 612 will continue to be valid as long as good-faith bargaining continues, which is presently the case between PPOA and the County.

Courage and Dedication Help Altadena Station Confront Catastrophic Wildfire

Nothing could have prepared Altadena Station Crime Analyst Virginia Bustos for what she faced on January 8. The longtime Unit 621 member has been an integral part of the Altadena Station Detective Bureau since 2009. During that time, she has worked with dozens of her sworn brothers and sisters to provide critical case support and help station personnel identify crime patterns, catch crooks and ensure the deputies at her station are fully equipped to fight crime and protect the citizens of Altadena.
