Each year, hundreds of names of officers killed in the line of duty are engraved on the walls of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, DC. These names are then read aloud during the annual Candlelight Vigil to memorialize those who made the ultimate sacrifice. PPOA and ALADS were proud to provide support for approximately 100 members participating in the 2024 Police Unity Tour. The 3-day cycling event kicked off in New Jersey before winding through Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware. The event culminated with the riders joining more than 2,000 fellow peace officers from all over the nation as they finished the ride together in Washington DC, where they received an emotional reception from supporters, colleagues and family members of fallen officers. We’re grateful to the many retired friends who joined us on the patio for Cigar Night hosted by PPOA. For PPOA reps, this is always the highlight of the Retiree Roundup and this year was no exception. Thank you again to everyone who helped make it a memorable evening!

Another LASD Retiree Roundup has come and gone (sigh.) As always, PPOA representatives were honored to meet with countless friends over the last few days and we’re sincerely thankful to Moon Mullen and his dedicated team for hosting another impressive event!

The graduation ceremony for Custody Assistant Class 109 was hosted at Biscailuz Center this morning. 2nd Vice President/Custody Assistant Tony Coleman and Executive Director Wayne Quint Jr. were honored to represent PPOA at this event. Congratulations to every member of Class 109 for the teamwork and dedication required to complete the academy and begin promising new careers with the Sheriff’s Department.

PPOA was proud to host our 19th Annual Retiree Luncheon yesterday at the Sheraton Fairplex. Board Member Jim Schallert (LASD ret. 2019) served as master of ceremonies and we were pleased to offer special acknowledgement to the military veterans in attendance. Thank you all for joining us for a memorable afternoon!
