On June 6, 2023, PPOA confirmed that based upon PPOA’s objections — click here to read the letter sent May 24th to the Office of Inspector General (OIG) — and the recent ALADS court filings, the OIG has suspended all pending interviews of PPOA members until further notice. We will keep the membership and the six (6) impacted PPOA members updated as the process unfolds.

UPDATE RE: LASD CAPTAIN SELECTION PROCESS — SUBMISSION DEADLINE EXTENDED
(May 30, 2023)
As you may recall, PPOA filed an Unfair Labor Practice charge last week regarding the Captain selection process. PPOA also requested an extension of time for our member applicants to provide the information in the profile/questionnaire, which had an original deadline of 6/2/23.
This afternoon, PPOA was advised by the Sheriff’s Department they will be extending the deadline by 10 days to 6/12/2023. Additionally, any applications already received by the Department will not be reviewed or shared outside of Human Resources until PPOA and the Department have concluded the meet-and-confer process.
PPOA will continue to provide members with regular updates on this issue.

PPOA, together with our brothers and sisters at ALADS, filed a complaint on May 19, 2023 with the Los Angeles County Employee Relations Commission (ERCOM) against the County of Los Angeles. This complaint seeks to protect our members from any attempts by the Office of Inspector General (OIG) and/or the Civilian Oversight Commission to violate our members’ fundamental constitutional rights during their investigation of “Deputy Gangs.” This filing, together with the prior success on the challenge of Measure R (which had the effect of suspending the OIG’s attempts to subpoena our members to testify) confirms PPOA’s ongoing and relentless pursuit to assure our members all the appropriate protections under the law. PPOA will continue to update the membership as this issue develops.
To read a copy of the Unfair Employee Relations Practice charge filed by PPOA and ALADS, please refer to the email sent to PPOA members on 5/19/23.
