Apathy Abounds…

Apathy Abounds…

In a sprawling county of 4,753 square miles and 5.5 million registered voters, the population seems to shrivel away during elections. During this recent primary election, many voters did not participate, both in L.A. County and statewide, even though the process of voting is extremely easy, with mail-in ballots provided to the households of all registered voters. Read More

Hope for the Future

Hope for the Future

I start with this inspiring quote because each calendar year in June, PPOA issues college scholarship awards to our full dues-paying members’ dependent children graduating from high school, as well as our members’ dependent children currently attending an accredited college or university. Mourning the Loss of Sheriff’s Security Officer Robert Ford Sr.

Unfortunately, this month’s article begins with solemn news. Fellow Sheriff’s Security Officer Robert Ford Sr. passed away unexpectedly on May 1, 2022. The 27-year LASD veteran had been assigned to Metro Court for the last 25 years. He actually began his career with the L.A. County Marshal’s Office before coming over to the Sheriff’s Department during the merger. Read More

It’s Time to Make Some Noise

It’s Time to Make Some Noise

Greetings, fellow PPOA members. Once again, we are amid turbulent times. The world, the country, the state, the county and our own department are in constant conflict with numerous issues. The economy and the moral compass of society are being hammered from different factions. Read More
